Nathaniel Peat sensei
Nathaniel Peat sensei holds the distinguished Japanese awarded title of "Renshi" and is ranked to (Godan) 5th Dan Black Belt. He is a direct student of R. M Yamanaka shihan (kyoshi, 9th°)

Nathaniel Peat sensei has almost 26 years experience in martial arts, and has taught several members of the police, security organisations, self defence specialists, and members of the public alike. He has a solid grounding in authentic martial arts with knowledge extending over several styles and systems within Budo; some of which include Ju-Jitsu, Shaolin Kung Fu, Aikido and Kobudo. Over the years he has had the opportunity to train with some of the worlds greatest martial arts teachers. He regularly travels to train with experienced and internationally recognised master instructors in order to develop and grow in the martial arts.
In addition to the traditional arts, he has trained in several other combat based modern systems such as Urban knife combat, Muay Tai and MMA. He has several years experience in teaching biomechanics, gross motor movement in states of panic and defence responses under stress all of which he has written literature on.
As the official coach of the Brunel University Karate Team he has led them to both national and international success. His team competed again in 2010 at the BUCS National Championships and once again proved their abilities walking away with 14 medals, 6 of which were Gold. They are currently the best University Kata Team in the United Kingdom (2010) the team has had equivalent successes for 3 years running, in addition he has had members compete at both the European University Championships and at the World University Championships.
One of his major aims is to make a difference in society, seeking to encourage and develop youngsters into achieving and bettering themselves within society. He is the founder of The Safety Box which runs through a wide range of interpersonal courses. Specifically tailored in line with the national curriculum the courses are taught through PSHE/PE/Enrichment/Citizenship/PLTS and Enterprise classes within schools in and around England, dealing with conflict resolution, anti-social behaviour, bullying, confidence building, leadership, motivation, enterprise, entrepreneurship and personal safety.
Within The Safety Box he developed a anti-knife based non aggressive defensive system and is the owner of The Safety Box Gross Motor Knife defence series which to date has been taught to over 4000 young people across the UK. The gross motor knife program, designed specifically for young people that carry weapons out of fear, has a structured training programme in place that teaches young people about the harsh realities of knife crime. The program takes it to a very real level of physical conflict and shows the young people how to effectively defend themselves against knives so that they do not feel the need to pick weapons up for a means of protection.
Despite acheivements made he regards himself as a continual student, seeking to improve skill and ability through intense training. Much of the success and experience he has acheived is due to the amount of dedicated and honest students that he has. They all seek to strive in bettering themselves and have become great role models of what true martial artists should be like.
He is forever grateful to the following teachers who have taught him in his development:
- Saiko Shihan Yamanaka (Kyoshi),
